Why Choose Matt Hardin Law

compassionate
An injury does not just affect your body. It affects your job, your family, and your peace of mind. We take the time to understand the full picture of what you are going through and stand beside you through every stage of your recovery, not just the legal parts of it.

Relentless
We prepare every Memphis case as though it is headed for a Shelby County courtroom. Insurance companies pay attention when a firm is genuinely ready to try a case, and that readiness is often what moves a lowball offer into fair compensation.

Honorable
We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards and take personal responsibility for every case we accept. You will always get an honest assessment of your claim — including the parts that are difficult to hear — because you cannot make good decisions without straight answers.

Accessible
You will never be left wondering what is happening with your case. We return calls, explain each step in plain language, and keep you informed from intake through resolution. Our attorneys stay reachable for the life of your claim.
What to Expect
Navigating the aftermath of an accident is tough. Our experienced attorneys guide you through the legal process, pursuing every negligent party to secure compensation for:
- Medical expenses
- Pain and suffering
- Future medical care
- Lost wages and earning potential
- Loss of quality of life
- Wrongful death damages
Our Process
- You Talk, We Listen
You’ve been through a lot, and we know your time is valuable. At our initial intake, we’ll ask you questions about what happened and gather everything we need to start your case, so you can get back to focusing on healing. During the intake process, our attorney’s will meet you in person or virtually to walk you through next steps and answer all your questions. - You Focus on Healing, We Handle the Rest
While you take care of your health, we gather evidence, take care of the paperwork, the phone calls, and the back-and-forth with the insurance companies. We’ll do whatever your case needs to get the best outcome possible including preparing a demand, negotiating, and litigating. You’ll always know what’s happening and what to expect. - You Get What You Deserve, So You Can Move On
Our goal is simple: help you recover what you’ve lost—medical bills, time from work, peace of mind—so you can confidently move forward with your life.

- NO Fees until we win
- Our clients always make more than us
- No fee increase no matter what it takes
At Matt Hardin Law, we offer our services on a contingent fee basis, meaning you are not responsible for legal fees until we recover compensation.
Going a step beyond:
Many firms increase their fees if they need to litigate. We are prepared to do whatever it takes to get your best resolution, with the same fee throughout.
Why You Need an Experienced Injury Attorney
Going up against the insurance company alone puts you at a disadvantage. Without a lawyer, you risk:
Missing Critical Evidence
- Important proof can disappear quickly without a legal team moving to preserve it.
Saying Something the Adjuster Uses Against You
- Insurance companies look for statements they can twist. We handle the communication so you don’t have to.
Accepting a Low Offer
- Early settlements are designed to save the insurance company money—not protect your long-term needs.
Missing Deadlines or Paperwork
- We take care of every detail while you focus on healing.
With Matt Hardin Law, you have a team that levels the playing field from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your Memphis office located?
Our Memphis office is at 6256 Poplar Ave #125, Memphis, TN 38119, in the Poplar Avenue corridor of East Memphis near Memphis University School and the Regalia Shopping Center. We’re a short drive off Interstate 240, with parking on site. You can reach the office directly at (901) 201-4478.
How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Memphis?
Tennessee has one of the shortest filing deadlines in the country. Most personal injury lawsuits must be filed within one year of the date of the injury under Tenn. Code Ann. § 28-3-104, and wrongful death claims generally follow the same one-year window. A few exceptions can shorten or extend that period — for example, claims involving minors, or cases where criminal charges are filed against the at-fault driver. Because the deadline is so tight, it’s worth speaking with an attorney early rather than waiting to see how the insurance claim plays out.
Do you charge for consultations?
No. Consultations are free, and there is no obligation to hire us afterward.
How do you charge for your services?
We work on a contingency fee, which means you owe no attorney’s fees unless we recover compensation for you. Our fee does not increase if your case has to go to court.
What if the crash was partly my fault?
You may still be able to recover. Tennessee uses a modified comparative fault system: your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault, and you’re barred from recovering only if you’re found 50% or more at fault. Insurance adjusters often assign more blame to injured people than the evidence supports, which is one reason it helps to have an attorney reviewing the file.
Which courts would handle my Memphis case?
Most Memphis-area injury lawsuits are filed in Shelby County — in Circuit Court for larger claims or General Sessions Court for smaller ones. The vast majority of cases settle without ever reaching a courtroom, but we prepare each one as though it will be tried.
Do I need a lawyer if my insurance agent is helping me?
Your agent works for the insurance company, not for you. Even a friendly adjuster has a duty to their employer to close claims for as little as possible. An attorney’s role is to represent your interests only.
Do you handle worker's compensation cases?
We do not handle traditional workers’ compensation claims. However, if you were injured while working due to someone else’s negligence, such as in a car accident, we may be able to help. For a full list of our practice areas, click here.
What if I can't come to your office because of my injuries?
Then we’ll come to you. We regularly meet clients at home, in Memphis-area hospitals and rehab facilities, or over Zoom. You should never have to delay getting legal help because you can’t drive.
What types of cases do your Memphis attorneys handle?
Car and truck wrecks, motorcycle and pedestrian accidents, rideshare collisions, slip and fall and premises liability claims, dog bites, and wrongful death — along with estate planning services.
